Benefits of the BA 501 series

The BA 501 is a single-stage rotary vane vacuum pump designed for the most demanding industrial applications, including processes with high dust, dirt, or vapor loads such as sintering or heat treatment in metallurgy. Its very high vapor capacity of up to 14,000 g/h allows it to handle large amounts of vapor efficiently, preventing condensation inside the vacuum pump and ensuring reliable operation.

To achieve this performance, the BA 501 uses an integrated oil recirculation and liquid separator system. The oil used as operating liquid continuously flushes out condensate, dirt, and particles from the vacuum pump. In processes with high vapor loads, such as degassing, the water vapor entering the pump condenses once the vapor tolerance limit is exceeded. The condensate accumulates in the liquid separator, where it is separated from the oil. Since water is heavier than oil, it sinks to the bottom, where it can be easily drained. The purified oil is regenerated and recirculated as operating fluid. This design effectively prevents vapor condensation inside the pump while ensuring extended oil life, minimal downtime, and simplified maintenance, even in processes with high moisture or contaminant loads.

An electric motor with a V-belt transmission drives the vacuum pump. Unlike other rotary vane vacuum pumps that rely on centrifugal force to slide out the vanes, the BA 501 has springs that press the vanes constantly against the cylinder wall. This allows the pump to operate at a slower rotational speed, minimizing wear on moving parts, reducing vibration, and extending the service life of both the pump and its components. The two bearings, positioned on both sides of the rotor shaft, have their own lubricant system. This separate oil reservoir is completely isolated from the compression chamber by dual shaft seals. Thanks to this design, the oil used to seal the compression chamber does not come into contact with the bearing oil, preventing dirt, particles, or condensate from the process from reaching the bearings. Consequently, the bearings are kept clean and fully protected, ensuring a longer lifetime, reduced maintenance, and increased operational reliability.

The BA 501 features an adjustable cooling water system. The temperature of the incoming fresh water can be regulated via a thermostat in the inlet valve. This option maintains the vacuum pump at the optimal operating temperature, making it adaptable to different process gases and vapor loads. Adapting the operating temperature can prevent condensation, protect the pump from overheating, optimize water consumption, and reduce operating costs.
